“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

Another very pleasant day of riding around the lovely county of Norfolk. Being only a relatively short ride (45 km), I just ambled along on quiet laneways that took me through forests, farmlands and quintessential English countryside.

My first delight came after only 5 km when I came to a forest with the quaint name of Pretty Corner Woods. Most likely it got its name from the colourful rhododendrons growing wild on the roadsides. Judging from the birds chirping, I think they were enjoying the surroundings as much as me.

Farms always interest me and today I couldn’t help notice the number of different animals around, all seeming as content as me. I saw sheep, cows, horses, donkeys, pigs, geese, ducks, hens, and even a couple of colourful pheasants (which darted away too quickly for me to capture on camera).

But it was the pigs that intrigued me. Rounding a bend I came upon a paddock full of strange, igloo-shaped, domes, which when I got closer I could see were cute little pig homes. Rather than being cooped up together in a big sty, they roam free range and each family has it’s own little residence. How cute!

Coming into the ancient town of Norwich I couldn’t resist stopping at a middle eastern cafe called Sahara, where I enjoyed a plate of olives, houmous, and flatbread with a couple of cappuccinos. It was too early to check in to my hotel so I used the time to sort out my photos and write these few words.

Tomorrow I am having a rest day in Norwich. Having completed just over half my tour, it is time to give my poor old legs a rest and my bicycle some much needed attention. I’ll tell you more about Norwich when I have had a chance to explore.

The little pigs are so cute then no more esting porky anymore. Yes your poor legs needs a rest. The whole place looks very compact but yet beautiful. I love the look of the houses.

Very pretty – some gorgeous flowers and well-kept gardens. And a TRACTOR – yay!! Love those little piggies’ houses – trust you didn’t huff and puff too near them? Did you avail yourself of the unique opportunity to get your taxes in order and your future foreseen?

    Hi Sophie.
I was worried that my huffing and puffing would blow their house in. No unfortunately I didn’t avail myself of the advice being offered … it was a little bit too chilly for that. I cracked up when I saw the sign and had to capture it on camera.
