Another great day of riding in this beautiful country! The ride from Aschaffenburg to Miltenberg was only 46 Km so it went much too quickly. Like yesterday the paths were perfect and the scenery was mesmerising. Riding was easy and there was a feeling of peace and tranquillity as I glided effortlessly along the smooth, flat, path beside the majestic Main River.
But what made today so special was the memorable towns I passed through. About 10 Km south of Aschaffenburg I deviated from the river path to check out an unpretentious, but neat and tidy, little town called Niedernberg, where I stopped for my first coffee for the day.
A further 10 Km and I came to an incredible town called Obernburg. I have always had a fascination for the German style timber-frame houses, so when I entered through the archway into Obernburg my camera went into over-drive. A Bavarian delight!
About 5 Km before Miltenburg I did a short detour to Kleinheubach to check out a castle that my friend Rolf told me about in his comment on yesterday’s blog. It was just as beautiful as he had suggested.
When I arrived at my destination of Miltenburg it was immediately obvious why it is known as the Pearl of the Main River! Words cannot describe how beautiful this town is so I will let the photos tell the story.
And now the biggest decision of the day … where to eat when there are so many exciting options!
